These are some pictures of my mom and my son David. These were taken a year ago right before she turned 60! She stayed the weekend with us and David and her were inseparable!
Brooke, Hello. My siblings and I are going through the same ordeal with my mom who is 63. She has just been diagnosed in the last year and half but the doctors think she has had it for seven years. My heart goes out to you and your son. I remind myself each day to be thankful my kids know their grandma, even if she won't always know them! -Ashley
I'm sorry to hear that you and your family are going through this. Is your mom living at home or in a Facility? We had to put my mom in a place a year ago and she seemed to decline so rapidly since. This blog is my therapy! I wish you the best.
We are looking into different facilities. She is living with a friend and it is not working out so well. She lost all of her money when the disease started and is basically on welfare, so finding a nice nursing home is difficult. What do you think has made your mom decline? I keep thinking the disease may stabilize if she goes into a home, because at least she would be taking medication and eating healthy. Is your mom on a locked down unit?
yes, she is in a locked unit in an alzheimer's facility. My mom's on medicaid so it is possible. I think the change of move in general is hard on them. She stop eating and lost 5ish lbs, but since has gained it back. Putting your mom in a home was truely be one of the hardest things you will go through, but it's probably for the best. Make sure that you choose wisely. Mom was placed in facility , of not our choice, it was horrible. Where does she live? I can look into places around your area.
My Mom, isn't she beautiful! For those that don't know, she has Alzheimer's! A terrible disease that has devastated all of us. She was diagnosed 9 years ago. I want to write a little contribution to her in a blog since she was and is my world. My mother was my bestfriend and was always there when I needed her. I miss her friendship and late night talks that mothers and daughters have! I am very grateful that my oldest son David got to know her well! They had a lot of great times. In fact when she would stay the night he would not leave her side! I'm just glad that god gave us the time with her!
